Origin Story

Hello! Krišs here. The beginning of Saikne Instruments can be traced back to 2021, when three friends needed a shared workshop space for creative projects, tinkering and general technical exploration. Slowly but surely the workshop grew, just as our ideas grew. Each with our seperate skillsets - Alex: rapid prototyping and mechatronics, Kristians with software development and automation and Krišs with Industrial design & Graphics. Initially we worked on our own seperate projects, but after a while we began to collaborate on larger  R&D projects, eventually growing into a small research and development workshop focusing on hardware projects, preferrably ones where there is room for creative expression.

The creative background of Alex has been music production and DJ'ing, while Krišs has been an avid enjoyer of music performances and did graphics for local dance music events on the side. This naturally led to creative exploration in noise making devices. In 2022 we set our focus on taking some of our musical experiments further, which has lead to incorporating Saikne Instruments and assembling a team of R&D partners to expand our capabilities!

The name of the company comes from the Latvian word "saikne" which translates as connection, bond or relationship. One of the core principles of the company is to seek ways how people can maintain a healthy, sustainable relationship with technology.
